The Oyster Bed is designed to make preparing grilled or baked oyster dishes easier, whether using pre-shucked oyster meat or cooking on the half shell. Its unique system of channels filter the renderings into a common reservoir as the oysters cook - perfect for bread dipping! Our Kickstarter launched October 10th with great reception.

Our patent pending design can be used to prepare and serve countless dishes with unmatched presentation and versatility. The Oyster Bed can be put in the oven, grilled on a pit, or put in the fridge or freezer to serve cold dishes such as oysters on the half shell, cocktail shrimp, or deviled eggs.

Armetale is one of the world's foremost "sand casted" metals. Its distinctive manufacturing process allows for the forging of the most uniquely designed cooking pieces on the market. This proprietary, non-toxic metal alloy has survived the test of time, maintaining it's leading position on the market since it was developed in 1963.

With the Louisiana coast losing a football field of land per hour in coastal erosion, there has never been a more important time for the creation of manmade oyster reefs, which duplicate many of the benefits of natural reefs. These reefs protect our coast by reducing the energy of high power waves by as much as 76 to 93 percent and by being sustainable, unlike traditional man made bulkheads, which require costly maintenance. Study after study has shown that restored oyster reefs are key to promoting healthy fisheries, which translate into a healthy regional and national economy. Worldwide production of oysters totals nearly 3.7 million tons, which is roughly 7,400,000,000 pounds of shell.

Despite recycling initiatives, our nation's oyster bars and restaurants still struggle to recycle all of their inventory, so tens of billions of oyster shells end up in landfills across our country. Meanwhile, oyster fishermen transport hundreds of thousands of tons of crushed concrete and limestone to our coastlines in an attempt to create the foundations for future oyster reefs.

The Oyster Bed helps solve this problem. Because it gives the chef an opportunity to use pre-shucked oysters, it enables those stockpiles of shells at shucking houses to return to the nation's valuable estuaries via the very oyster fishermen who harvested this keystone species in the first place!

Throughout the product and concept development phase of putting together The Oyster Bed LLC, we were BLESSED to meet and work with some of the oyster industry's most respected fishermen, environmentalists, engineers, and activists.

Over the last three years we have, with the help of some divine intervention, come up with a conservation model that we think can be replicated along the coastal estuaries that span not only the Gulf of Mexico, but also the Atlantic, Pacific, and our country's largest coastal estuary - the Chesapeake Bay.

As we continue to raise awareness about the value of the oyster, we will continue to assemble the most experienced and capable team of conservationists to develop and execute this one of a kind project. Our goal is to create teams, then projects, in all of our nations' most valuable estuaries.
