War in a Peaceful Country by Bálint Hirling

The photos were taken during an international airsoft competition in a small town called Csaszar in Hungary. During these events, players wear almost the same uniforms and use the same weapons as soilders do during the war. In order to entirely imitate the nature of the war, they live without any conveniences: they do not have a shower, they sleep in abandoned buildings at night, and there is also a hierarchy among the participants.

That raises the question why is the competition so important for them? Why do they need to reproduce the environment of the war in a peaceful country?

The answers of the participants, who are mainly doctors, teachers, students, etc. are different. Mostly, they take part to play with their friends in one team and to relax after the difficult and tiring weekdays.
