Texas is a big place. It covers over 268,000 square miles, making it the 2nd largest of the 50 states, right behind Alaska. Due to its size, almost every small town I've visited in Texas has one thing in common, the railroad. And where there's a railroad, there's a crossing like this one in Sealy, Texas.
I sat in front of this crossing, waiting for the train to pass for almost twenty minutes before noticing the contrast between the blue sky, the red of the lights and the black & white of the sign. Talk about something staring you in the face!

Shot taken with a Canon 50D set on aperture priority (Av), using an EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM hand-held. The exposure was taken at 24mm, f/8 for 1/90th of a second at ISO 100 on Lexar Professional UDMA digital film. All post capture processing was done in Lightroom 2.
